2025 Movies Ranked

6. Flight Risk
D: Mel Gibson
**********
A mediocre and forgettable movie, but Mel Gibson's got to pay the bills and get some support for his upcoming movie about the Harrowing of Hell.

5. Sinners
D: Ryan Coogler
**********
A very well-made and entertaining movie, but it betrays a pathetic theme that reads like an unwitting indictment of black people: the intro establishes that a few people can create good music because they have some sort of spiritual connection, but the vampires (who seem to represent colorblind white people) "steal" the ability and corrupt it. Ironically the movie itself implies that blacks are incompetents who see their minority of intelligent people as wizards and cope with more functional societies as "vampires" akin to how the woke rationalize honest success as a form of "theft."

4. Mission Impossible - The Final Reckoning
D: Christopher McQuarrie
**********
An okay movie with two very impressive action sequences (the diving scene and the plane scene), but with an anticlimactic ending. The last two M:I movies are like Eagle Eye without the gonzo fun.

3. The Phoenician Scheme
D: Wes Anderson
**********
Maybe I've reached my limit with Wes Anderson's style, but the movie is only mildly funny, and the poignant backstory could have been done with more emotion.

2. The Naked Gun
D: Akiva Schaffer
**********
Some very funny moments, but most of the jokes are forced or too vulgar.

1. The Bad Guys 2
D: Pierre Perifel
**********
A solid, fun, stylish cartoon that knows what it is.
