5. Backrooms
D: Kane Parsons
**********
Entertaining enough, but it seems mildly misandrist in the end, showing that the female psychologist's past demons were valid while admonishing the male character for being his own enemy.
4. The Odyssey
D: Christopher Nolan
**********
A movie not nearly as interesting as its controversy. Christopher Nolan has transitioned to safe, bland fare.
3. The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act
D: Gooseworx
**********
The ending could have been better, but it's a poignant finale to a great web series.
2. Project Hail Mary
D: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller
**********
Really lives up to the hype. Beautiful visuals and a lot of heart. Rare example of an upbeat cinematic adventure without the modern trends. My only complaints are that it may be a little too similar to Interstellar and that the humanity-saving probes are named after the Beatles.
1. Young Washington
D: Jon Erwin
**********
A solid, inspiring biopic that's accurate enough for what it needs to be with strong performances, beautiful scenery, and good lessons.
